Blood Clot In The Uterus While Pregnant
November 21, 2008
I went today to get what I thought would be my 16 week u/s. The baby ended up measuring at 11.5 weeks. The tech found a blood clot in my uterus on the right side of my cervix. My cervix is closed and the lining is thick. My question is, how am I supposed to pass this clot if my cervix is closed? What threat does this pose for m/c?
HI I REALLY DONT KNOW THE CHANCES FOR M/C,BUT I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I AM SORRY TO HEAR THIS. THE FACT THAT THE BABY MEASURED ALMOST 5WKS BEHIND DOESN'T SOUND GOOD,UNLESS THERE'S A MISCALCULATION OF YOUR LAST PERIOD/DUE DATE. I DON'T WANT TO UPSET YOU BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ AND HEARD THAT DOESN'T SOUND GOOD. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. DID YOUR DOC. SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT? AGAIN I AM NO EXPERT I AM JUST STATING WHAT I'VE LEARNED. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK.
he didn't show concern, cause I was measring out at 12 weeks. Last time, they just measured my fundus, and as you can tell by the U/S I have on my profile, that was supposed to be a 14 week fetus, and I think it was more 9-10week. They just did a quick scan to measure the HB, because the baby hides behind a major artery, so they coudn't get it to come up with the doppler.
I go on tomorrow instead of Friday. I called them b/c I think I have a Yeast Infection, so they are getting me in first thing nin the morning to get checked out. I won't even see my regular midwife, because she's not available til friday, and they want me in ASAP to get looked at, and get on antibiotics.
I am hoping they would have something on my charts I can look at to see what all was said about the blood clot. I will be 14 weeks Friday, so I have a feeling it's not too bad if they haven't contacted me by now for anything...

oh really? wow.. This will be the first time to see the midwife since the U/S, so I still have no idea of whats going on. Thanks for the forewarning. I hope everything will be fine. I haven't spotted in a while, and I am afraid that BD'ing messed things up. They said it was okay to BD after the bleeding stopped. I think thats what prolly caused the infection.. I am totally kicking myself for not being able to conrol the hormones..
Hi - I replied to same subject on MRs Millers thread about same issue. Basically I had lots of clots under placenta and had bleeding for weeks in fact months. Baby was fine and delivered a healthy baby boy. I never saw a clot as such just blood and daily. It was so constant after a while I wasnt concerned by it. But they will do lots of scans to check all is well. Good Luck and try not to worry to much. You have a far greater chance that all will be fine rather than not. So meantim focus on that fact. I know it very scary and not what you had expected. But so far so good. Best wishes.
Thanks Hoping. My DH says we are in 2nd trimester, and past the scary stage. I cried after we BD'd a few days ago. I felt so bad. I spotted 2 mornings in a row, and haven't had anything since. Now just this nasty infection. We will find out in the morning whats going on. I am excited to get to see the lil one again, and to hear the HB! I'm a fighter, and I know I bred that into my kiddo!!
HI - just wanted to say a yeast infection is considered harmless and they are likely t only give you an extra cream to ease symptoms. As often times they resist the internal pessary types. A yeast infection can also cause spotting. Its very common on pregnancy due to the PH values changing an allowing it to thrive. The onl time the worry aout a yeast infection is when you are de to give birth as in that way only can it be transmitted to baby. Dont worry.
Went in today, and it wasn't a yeast infection, just a simple bacterial infection. They gave me flagyl and told me to eat more yogurt.
As for the clot, they showed no concern for it, and told me everything is fine, and that most of the time it works itself out. I can carry full term and have a small clot, but it won't be likely =)
I go back on Jan 5th for the sex determination U/S! I am soooo excited!!
