On my way to an IUI

September 07, 2008

My dh and I have been ttc for 12 months. We went to a reproductive endrocrinologist and have ran some test. To my dissapointment they all came back a-ok. U/S good, SA good, and blood work good. So they ordered a HSG. Radiologist said he found a mass and i had paritubal adhesions on my Rt side. I am a rad tech so I had my rad take a look and he said it was all normal. That was another frustration. At least that would explain why still no BFP. So we did another u/s and suprise...perfectly normal...that mass he found..ya it is called my ovary. I ovulate normally, but dr put me on clomid anyhow. She said about 10-15% of infertility reasons are unknown. Yah for me. My endo was a tiny bit small so I have been doing estrodiol pills vaginally. So tomorrow is the big day for our IUI. I had to do my Hcg shot this am at 1:15. That was weird. I'm excited and nervous at the same time about tomorrow.

Wishing you the very, very best of luck!!!!***BABY DUST****

Many of us of unexplained infertility and it is so confusing b/c we want to have a reason why and then be able to "fix" it but it is also really good that we are healthy. :O)

Thanks for the BABYDUST!!!! I never thought I would take this long and without some reasoning it just makes it even more frustrating. I'm glad though that I have a very agressive dr and hopefully tomorrow will be the day. We do however worry about the multiples factor. Oh, well...we'll make it. I have heard many women say they started on 50 mg of clomid, but she started me on 100 mg. Have you been through the rounds? What dosage did you start on?

September 07, 2008

I did 2 IUIs butttt I took clomid 50mg(given by my ob/gyn) for three months with no U/S so I don't know how I responded to it. I didn't get preggo and we didn't do IUIs with clomid. I did injections, follistim for my IUIs. The 1st one I had 7 or 8 mature follies and didn't get preggo, the second time I had 5 and didn't get preggo either.I'm 36, we have been ttc for over a year. WE just did our 1st IVF so I'm in the 2ww. My friend had 8 follies with IUI and did get preggo with twins but that was also with high injections. Another friend got preggo on clomid and one shot of follistim and only has one baby in there. I think your chances of multiples on clomid are pretty small, possible but small.

Annie:

I just had my IUI as well on Sunday. I had 2 mature follies and hoping that both for fertilized! We will have to wait and see though...I pray that at least one of them sticks! I actually started off with 50mg of clomid. 1st round I missed this egg since I just did clomid. 2nd round, I didn't respond to the 50mg so they increased my dosage to 150mg for 3rd round. after 150mg, i went though ultrasounds for follicle studies and took a trigger shot to time my iui which was sunday (yesterday).

So here i am on Monday 1day past IUI! 13 days to go before I POAS!!!!

Well...this wait is killing me. Have any of u done the progesterone suppositories? What a pain!!! I wake up during the night feeling like I wet myself. Dr says they recommend continuing into 9th week of pregnancy. They want me to do a blood preg test on the 23rd. Do u know why a pee one wouldn't work?

Mom2prielle~ I'm sorry, but I am still pretty new to this. We have been ttc for 13 m for #1. Some of the other gals are really knowledgeable and have answered may questions for me. YOu may want to start a topic of your own and then DR Q may see it and respond. I'm sorry I'm not of any help. Welcome to fertility ties!!

Annie: That's probably because blood work is much more sensitive than the hpt. You can detect pregnancy a lot sooner.

I am also in my 2ww and today is 5dpiui. I get to POAS on Sunday 9/21. My DH and I are crossing off the days on the calendar! :-) It is extremely hard to wait this 2ww out! Worst part of the whole TTC process I think!

Well, hope 2ww passes quickly...hee hee I doubt it! :-)

mom2pri: you follicles will need to be approx 18-22mm from what I understand for it to be considered mature. Most likely than not, your follies will grow and be good for IUI. You said you took clomid for 8 months? What was the dosage were you on? I've been on it for 3 months and this is the last month I can take it per RE because it's making my endo lining too thin....I guess you didn't have that issue if they kept you on it for 8 months!

Baby Dust to you! and I hope you get your BFP sooner than later! :-)

If the hCg is so sensitive, then why do we have to wait two weeks? By then a pee one would work wouldn't it? Today is 5dpiui for me. 9/23 is my day for the hCg. I definately agree....this is the worst part. I am not very patient when it comes to things like this :-) Good luck and BABY DUST to you all!!
