Amber's journey...

August 28, 2008

I am 28 years old and from Georgia. I am a nurse and I work on a Mother Baby/Antepartum floor. It can sometimes be very difficult working with new moms and the babies when I am having such a difficult time carrying my own. My husband and I have been TTC for a year now. We have had two MC in Oct 2007 and just recently in early May. We are on the road to recovery to try again, but are facing a lot of unanswered questions. Chromosome and blood clotting tests have come back negative, and the products of conception were "normal". Both babies died somewhere between 8-10 weeks. There is no explanation for our losses. Hoping for the best for next time...

Fast forward...Just found out we are pregant again. EDC is March 15. Took a round of Clomid 50 mg days 5-9. Now I am on Prometrium also. Hoping this one sticks! Our first u/s is July 22.

July 22- U/S today showed a 6 week 2 day fetus with a heartbeat of 115!! Going back for a repeat U/S next Wednesday.

July 30-U/S today showed a fetus measuring about 7 weeks 4 days and a heartbeat of 158. The next two weeks will be the hardest. Between 8 and 9 weeks have been when our babies heartbeat's have stopped. I have an appointment next Thursday.

August 7-U/S today showed a strong heartbeat. Can't wait until this first trimester worrying is over. We are 8 weeks and 4 days by size.

August 14-U/S today showed a fetus measuring 9 weeks and 4 days with a strong heartbeat. I am starting to get excited! Another appointment on next wednesday.

August 20-Another great visit, showing a strong heartbeat and a growing fetus. I am 10 weeks and 3 days. I was so anxious before this appointment that I thought I was going to be sick. They tried to use the doppler and it was too early. It seemed like an eternity for the nurse to go and get the u/s machine. Next appointment is next Thursday.

August 28-What a wonderful day this was. They couldn't hear the baby by doppler again today (11 weeks and 4 days). It is the first time Dh and I saw our baby move. The little bean was jumping around in there like crazy. What a wonderful experience. We will go back in 1-2 weeks for a doppler scan.

Welcome Amber!

I am so sorry that you had to go through those miscarriages. I know how devastating they are, and the tremendous amount of heartbreak they bring. BUT.. CONGRATULATIONS on your current pregnancy!! I too was worried sick about my pregnancy- I have been a complete spaz the past 19 1/2 weeks :) It sounds like your little one is going to stick! I wish you a very happy and healthy pregnancy!!
